We mentioned last week that the past few months have been a challenging period for Roots & Wings. But God has been good – as He always is – and is teaching us the importance of surrendering the good, the bad and the ugly, and the absolute necessity of trusting Him. And when we are in that place of trust, we can’t believe the huge privilege we have to serve Him at Roots & Wings.
We LOVE the children. Anyone who works with underprivileged children knows this joy. The daily waist-high hugs, the light in their eyes, the tiny breakthroughs with the difficult child… there is nothing quite like it.
We love the staff. No one goes to work for a ministry for the money, and especially not at Roots & Wings. Yet we’ve seen our teachers work long hours, then go home and plan and study and strategize some more. Their utter and complete dedication to these children is truly a sight to behold.
They’ve shed many tears as they bear witness to the children’s suffering, but mostly their faces are brimming with joy, because they are called to this and they love it so much.
There is a sense of the sacred that runs through Roots & Wings. Not just because we offer some of the highest-quality care in Mexico, but because we’re unified by Jesus. We all know we are part of something truly special.
The fact that so many people have answered the call in their hearts to help Roots & Wings and keep us running shows us every day how good He is, and how his goodness is so alive in so many people who hear His call.
To God be the glory!
I will sing the Lord’s praises, for he has been good to me.
